The Garden Box Club

T & A’s Garden Box Club

The purpose of our raised beds is to provide the most natural, chemical free, user friendly garden for 10+years of successful gardening. The lumber is made out of natural untreated cedar and no concrete is utilized in securing our beds. We believe that everyone should have the ability to grow food and provide for themselves and their family in their own yard. The beauty of these raised beds is that you have more control over the soil, water, less weeds, easier maintenance, and discourages certain animals from invading your produce.

Tom can build you the most lavish and wildest garden box you can imagine but we have laid out four plans for you to review to get some ideas. We will come out and discuss your personal gardening goals and realist expectations depending upon your yards landscape and location. We hope you find this helpful in deciding if a raised garden would benefit you. Allison also offers garden consultations if you need some assistance on what and when to plant certain fruits and vegetables. Let us help you learn to be more self-sustainable in your own yard or community.

Things to keep in mind when planning your raised bed:

· no yard is flat; but you need your garden to be flat so build accordingly

· how much sun the area gets

· how will you provide water

· different depths are required for different vegetables/fruits

Do your homework:

1. grab some graph paper and plan out your garden

2. look up :

3. Research where to get your soil.

  • the type I’ve had the best result with are a “black gold compost soil”. Your area will/can call it something different.

4. Research your lumber.

  • you don’t want anything that has been treated with chemicals

  • you wouldn’t want to paint or stain the wood, leave it natural

5. Research your plants/seeds.

  • make sure you are getting them from a reputable and reliable source. I personally love scouting out my local farmer’s market for some rare finds to fill a few holes I may have in the garden.

Plans and Estimates: We utilize locally sourced lumber and soil and prices may vary depending on current rates and fees. A proper visit and consultation will guarantee you a proper bid. We are only accepting 5 clients this season as we know the beds will take some time and dedication. Please contact us for more information via email at allisonunplugged@gmail.com; feel free to send mailing address & we will send info packet.

Garden Guidance Club

Not to toot my own horn or anything but I really do love gardening and gardening loves me! With Tom’s ability to build me whatever I can possibly try to explain to him we have had some of the most abundant, fun, and successful gardens the last few years. We’ve learned a lot in the last 10 years of experimenting with various types/styles and I feel like we have fine-tuned the process and our 100 jars of canned produce every year shows! I’m happy to share the wealth and knowledge that we’ve learned through experience and what has been taught to me by my family of successful farmers and gardeners.
